Two photos follow, from the Guardian’s gallery of a day of violent protest in Bolton between the English Defence League and Unite Against Fascism. They cast a useful light on these organisations. The EDL isn’t  just English:

    As I understand it it was originally called the English and Welsh Defence League.

    The wave the Cross of St George and the Union Flag and sing British songs – they are most definitely not English nationalists. They are as far as I can tell almost exclusively British nationalists. Probably with considerable infiltration from the “security” forces.

    They may be right on the standpoint on Sharia and the Islamic threat but they do serious damage to the English cause which is more about political recognition and representation for England.
