Generosity of spirit

From this week’s Normblog profile of Emma Lee Potter (these lines are consecutive, I haven’t altered the sequence):

Do you think you could ever be married to, or in a long-term relationship with, someone with radically different political views from your own? > Definitely not.

What do you consider the most important personal quality? > Generosity of spirit.

What personal fault do you most dislike? > Meanness – in every sense.

  1. Avoid people who say things like “the most important personal quality is generosity of spirit.” They’re like the people who say things like “love is the most important thing in the world!” In other words, they will screw with your mind and suck you dry and somehow get you to believe it was your fault/you deserved it.

  2. Come on, man, be forgiving – besides, one rarely checks the political inclinations of the lady of his choice. So the fault is with the man. As usual.
